Frederick William Vibert  was born in Jersey on the  25 Jan 1858 and died on 05 May 1935 at his home at Moana, Grouville, Jersey . He can be located on page 6 of the St Peter tree and is person number 333. Below is a picture painted of him that recently sold at auction in Guernsey.

He was a Captain of the P & O passenger liner the SS Mantua which was one of the most advanced passenger ships of it’s time when launched in 1909, and he was captain for most of it’s life. More details about the ship are on the separate page.

He was awarded the Companion order of the Bath in the coronation honours on the 19th June 1911 to celebrate the coronation of king George V on 22nd June 1911. He retired from the royal navy reserve on 25/1/1913.
